Honor Magic V5 debuts as world’s thinnest foldable with 2K display and massive battery

Honor has unveiled its latest innovation in foldable smartphones — the Magic V5, which it claims to be the world’s thinnest book-style foldable device. Launched in China, the Magic V5 combines a sleek form factor with powerhouse specs, including a 7.95-inch 2K inner display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and up to a massive 6,100mAh battery.

Pricing and availability

The Honor Magic V5 starts at CNY 8,999 (approx. ₹1,07,500) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Higher configurations — 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB — are priced at CNY 9,999 and CNY 10,999, respectively. The device will be available in China from July 4 in four striking shades: Dawn Gold, Silk Road Dunhuang, Velvet Black, and Warm White.

Key specifications and standout features

The Magic V5 boasts a 7.95-inch foldable LTPO OLED display with 2K resolution and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. When folded, users can access a 6.45-inch outer LTPO OLED screen. Both displays support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the phone runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB internal storage — making it as robust as it is slim.

Photography is handled by a versatile triple camera setup: a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto shooter offering 3x optical zoom. For selfies, there are two 20MP cameras — one on each screen.

Power and build

One of the highlights is its battery: the top-end variant carries a 6,100mAh unit, while the others come with a 5,820mAh pack, both supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

The device is impressively light at 217g and just 8.8mm thick when folded. It also packs IP58 and IP59 certifications, stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and modern connectivity options like 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB-C.

With cutting-edge specs packed into a slim, elegant body, the Honor Magic V5 is poised to compete strongly in the premium foldable segment — blending portability, power, and style into one ambitious package.
