AWS Service Catalog expands to New Zealand and Calgary regions
AWS Service Catalog is now available in the Asia Pacific (New Zealand) and Canada West (Calgary) regions, enabling customers to manage and distribute approved IaC products efficiently.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the expansion of its AWS Service Catalog to include two additional regions: Asia Pacific (New Zealand) and Canada West (Calgary). This expansion allows customers in these regions to utilize the AWS Service Catalog to create, manage, and distribute catalogs of approved Infrastructure as Code (IaC) products for deployment on AWS.
The AWS Service Catalog enables administrators to define products using AWS CloudFormation or other IaC tools such as Terraform. These products comprise AWS resources that can vary from a single compute instance to complex, multi-tier applications. This service allows the sharing of approved product portfolios across AWS accounts and organizational units through AWS Organizations, providing engineers, database administrators, data scientists, and other end-users with consistent self-service access to governed AWS resources.
Organizations benefit from AWS Service Catalog by applying launch and template constraints to govern product provisioning. They can manage product versions as they evolve and control access by individual, group, or cost center using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). The service is widely utilized by enterprises, system integrators, and managed service providers to efficiently organize, govern, and provision resources on AWS at scale.
