AWS introduces availability notifications for regional capabilities
AWS has introduced availability notifications for regional capabilities, allowing users to receive alerts when services and features become available in their target Regions. This facilitates efficient planning and deployment.
AWS has launched a new feature within the AWS Builder Center, offering availability notifications for AWS Capabilities by Region. This subscription-based system is designed to automatically inform users when specific AWS services and features become available in their chosen Regions. This development aims to streamline the process for builders by enabling them to easily monitor the availability of over 1,500 services and features across 37 AWS Regions, thereby facilitating more efficient infrastructure planning and deployment decisions.
The availability notifications allow users to subscribe at the service level via the AWS Builder Center user interface. This subscription encompasses all underlying features across selected Regions, eliminating the need for users to track each feature individually. Notifications are provided through two primary channels: instant in-app alerts within the AWS Builder Center, and a consolidated weekly email digest. Users can manage their subscriptions and notification preferences by navigating to Settings > Notifications within the AWS Builder Center.
Common applications of this feature include tracking the launch of specific capabilities, monitoring service parity across different AWS Regions, and preparing for upcoming migrations or Regional expansions. For instance, a solutions architect working on expanding a generative AI application into new Regions can subscribe to updates for Amazon Bedrock. This subscription would ensure they receive automatic updates when new features like Knowledge Bases and Guardrails become available.
