Second-generation Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP expands to more AWS regions

Amazon’s second-generation FSx for NetApp ONTAP file systems are now accessible in additional AWS regions, enhancing cloud-based file system performance and scalability.

Amazon has announced the expansion of its second-generation FSx for NetApp ONTAP file systems to four additional AWS Regions. These regions include Europe (London), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), South America (Sao Paulo), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). This expansion aims to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of launching, operating, and scaling high-performance file systems in the cloud.

The second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems offer significant improvements in performance scalability and flexibility compared to their first-generation counterparts. Users can now create or extend file systems with up to 12 highly-available (HA) pairs of file servers, which can deliver up to 72 GBps of throughput and 1 PiB of provisioned SSD storage. This capacity ensures that workloads can be managed with greater efficiency and reliability.

With this latest regional expansion, the second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems are now available in a broad array of AWS Regions. These include US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (N. California, Oregon), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Spain, Stockholm, Zurich), South America (Sao Paulo), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). Users have the flexibility to create second-generation Multi-AZ file systems with a single HA pair or Single-AZ file systems with up to 12 HA pairs.
