Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex instances now available in more AWS regions
Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex instances are now available in Europe (Ireland) and Europe (London) regions, offering improved performance and memory bandwidth over previous generations.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that its Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex instances are now accessible in the Europe (Ireland) and Europe (London) regions. These instances are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, which are exclusive to AWS and provide the highest performance and fastest memory bandwidth among similar Intel processors available in the cloud.
The M8i and M8i-flex instances offer up to 15% better price-performance and provide 2.5 times more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation Intel-based instances. They deliver up to 20% improved performance compared to M7i and M7i-flex instances, with even more significant performance enhancements for certain workloads. Specifically, these instances are up to 30% faster for PostgreSQL databases, up to 60% faster for NGINX web applications, and up to 40% faster for AI deep learning recommendation models when compared to their predecessors.
The M8i-flex instances are designed to maximize price-performance benefits for a wide range of general-purpose workloads, including web and application servers, microservices, small and medium data stores, virtual desktops, and enterprise applications. They come in various sizes, from large to 16xlarge, making them an excellent first choice for applications that do not fully utilize all compute resources.
On the other hand, M8i instances are particularly suited for general-purpose workloads that require the largest instance sizes or continuous high CPU usage. These SAP-certified instances offer 13 different sizes, including two bare metal sizes and the new 96xlarge size for the most demanding applications.
To take advantage of these new instances, users can sign in to the AWS Management Console. For further details, interested parties can visit the M8i and M8i-flex instance page or check out the AWS News blog.
