AWS Transform now integrated with Kiro and VS Code

AWS Transform is now integrated with Kiro and VS Code, offering developers enhanced tools for managing enterprise transformations and reducing technical debt efficiently.

AWS Transform has expanded its availability by integrating with two additional developer tools: Kiro and Visual Studio Code (VS Code). AWS Transform is an innovative migration and modernization platform designed to significantly reduce the time required for enterprise transformations, compressing timelines from years to mere months. It manages large-scale infrastructure migrations and ongoing technical debt reduction, eliminating the manual processes and loss of context that often hinder these initiatives.

With this new integration, developers can now initiate AWS Transform custom transformations directly from their preferred work environment. Users can install the AWS Transform Power in Kiro or add the AWS Transform extension in VS Code. These custom transformations are designed to efficiently tackle technical debt at scale. Developers can select from AWS-managed transformations for common upgrade patterns, such as Java, Python, and Node.js version updates, as well as AWS SDK migrations like transitioning from boto2 to boto3, Java SDK v1 to v2, and JS SDK v2 to v3. Alternatively, developers can define their own transformations to suit specific needs.

The integration with Kiro and VS Code facilitates the discovery of new capabilities as they become available, allowing developers to build, iterate, and execute custom transformations across multiple repositories simultaneously. These transformations are part of an expanding library of playbooks being added to developer tools, complementing the existing AWS Transform web console and command-line interface (CLI). This allows users to initiate a job in their integrated development environment (IDE), monitor progress via the web console, and complete transformations seamlessly, with job state and context consistently shared across all platforms.

AWS Transform is compatible with deployments in all AWS commercial regions, while AWS Transform custom is specifically available in US East (N. Virginia) and Europe (Frankfurt). For more detailed information, users are encouraged to visit the AWS Transform product page and consult the user guide.
