Amazon MQ for RabbitMQ introduces support for Prometheus metrics
Amazon MQ for RabbitMQ now supports Prometheus metrics, enabling users to monitor broker, queue, and connection metrics using Prometheus-compatible tools.
Amazon MQ for RabbitMQ has announced the integration of the Prometheus plugin on RabbitMQ 4.2 brokers. This enhancement allows users to access a native Prometheus-compatible metrics endpoint directly on their RabbitMQ brokers. By utilizing any Prometheus-compatible monitoring tool, users can now efficiently scrape metrics related to brokers, queues, and connections, thus offering greater flexibility in observing and setting alerts for their messaging infrastructure.
The plugin provides access to metrics through the endpoints /metrics, /metrics/detailed, and /metrics/memory-breakdown in the Prometheus text format. Furthermore, Amazon MQ facilitates the publication of a curated selection of these Prometheus metrics to CloudWatch. This integration enables users to seamlessly incorporate their brokers into existing Prometheus-based monitoring systems, such as Grafana dashboards, Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, and self-hosted Prometheus servers.
Notably, the Prometheus plugin is activated by default on all Amazon MQ for RabbitMQ 4.2 brokers across all AWS Regions where Amazon MQ is available. For those interested in exploring this feature further, detailed information can be found in the Amazon MQ release notes.
