Amazon Redshift Serverless expands to AWS Asia Pacific and Canada West regions
Amazon Redshift Serverless is now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions, offering scalable analytics without the need for manual data warehouse management.
Amazon has announced the general availability of its Redshift Serverless in the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions. This service enables users to run and scale analytics operations without the need to provision and manage data warehouse clusters. Amazon Redshift Serverless is designed to provide quick insights from data, catering to data analysts, developers, and data scientists by automatically provisioning and scaling data warehouse capacity for optimal performance.
Users are charged on a per-second basis for the compute resources used during workloads, allowing for cost-effective and efficient analytics operations. The service integrates seamlessly with existing analytics and business intelligence applications, requiring no changes. Users can easily start querying data via the AWS Management Console using the Query Editor V2 or their preferred tools with just a few clicks.
The service eliminates the need for manual configurations such as selecting node types, node counts, and managing workloads or scaling. It allows users to create databases, schemas, and tables, and load their data from Amazon S3. Additionally, users can access data through Amazon Redshift data shares or restore from an existing Amazon Redshift provisioned cluster snapshot. Furthermore, Amazon Redshift Serverless enables direct querying of data stored in open formats like Apache Parquet and Apache Iceberg within Amazon S3 data lakes.
Amazon Redshift Serverless offers unified billing for queries across various data sources, facilitating efficient cost monitoring and management. For more information and to get started, users can refer to the Amazon Redshift Serverless feature page, user documentation, and API Reference.
