AWS AppConfig introduces advanced targeting for feature flag rollouts
AWS AppConfig has enhanced its deployment capabilities by allowing customers to target feature flag and configuration data to specific user segments or individuals during gradual rollouts, ensuring safer and more controlled updates.
AWS AppConfig has upgraded its deployment features by introducing enhanced controls that enable customers to direct feature flag and configuration data values towards specific user segments or individual users throughout a gradual rollout process. This improvement builds upon AWS AppConfig’s existing safety mechanisms, which allow for the slow introduction of feature flag or configuration data changes over a period of minutes or hours. Such progressive delivery ensures a safer implementation of updates, minimizing the risk of unexpected impacts.
The new targeting feature utilizes customer-provided entity identifiers to maintain consistency of feature flags or dynamic configuration data for specific target segments during these gradual rollouts. By employing the AppConfig Agent, customers can achieve precise control over the deployment process, including the ability to target updates using unique user IDs or multiple IDs. This capability enhances the flexibility and safety of deploying updates, ensuring that changes are effectively managed and tailored to specific requirements.
